Cairo Chronicles: When Mo Salah, Camels, and Papyrus Collide

Embarking on an Egyptian Escapade: The Tom and Jerry Edition In February 2022, my mate Tom and I embarked on the second leg of our exhilarating journey, travelling from Jordan to Cairo, Egypt. Bursting with excitement to explore the historic city of Cairo, the world's sixth-largest by population in one city and teeming with wonders, our jam-packed itinerary included the iconic Pyramids, the Ancient Egyptian Museum, sampling camel meat, and reconnecting with old and new friends. This adventure was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience, brimming with excitement and surprises at every turn. Camel Rides, Pyramid Hops, and the Papyrus Shop Conspiracy On our first day, we enlisted a local tour guide to escort us on a camelback tour around the Pyramids. This proved essential in avoiding the notorious area tour guides who follow people throughout there Pyramid experience. However, before reaching the Pyramids, we experienced the infamous papyrus shop lock-in. The lights went out, and we ...

Jordan: A Journey of Self-Discovery Through Ancient Wonders and Otherworldly Landscapes

Image
Prior to embarking on my trip to Jordan, I had scant knowledge of this small Middle Eastern nation, save for its location on a map. However, my journey in February 2022 surpassed all expectations and instilled in me an enduring sense of wanderlust and self-discovery. Accompanied by my friend Tom, I explored the country for three full days before continuing on to Egypt. Our itinerary included Petra on day one, Wadi Rum on day two, and a day of travel from Aqaba before reaching Amman, where we stayed. We would meet many folks on this trip including a taxi driver named Mumhed who featured heavily in this trip. The view on the Hike to the Monastery  My adventure at Petra started with a gruelling 3-hour hike - the first half of which was a real test of our stamina. Tom and I turned down rides from a bunch of men with depressing looking camels and donkeys at the start of our journey, but we soldiered on until we finally reached the Monastery. And what an outstanding sight it w...

Breaking Free: How I'm Creating a Life of Freedom and Adventure"

After years of working dead-end jobs and feeling unfulfilled in my personal life, I've decided it's time for a change. At nearly 30 years old, I'm still living at home with my parents and don't have much in the way of savings, but I refuse to let that stop me from pursuing my dreams. I've always been a social person, but lately I've found myself stuck in a rut, spending most of my time at work or at home. I know there's more to life than this, and that's why I'm embarking on a journey to reinvent my life and become a digital nomad. I don't have all the answers yet, but I'm excited to experiment, try new things, and document my successes and failures along the way. As a history enthusiast, I pursued my academic passion by obtaining a Master's degree in Modern History, with a specialism in Fascism and Communism. During my studies, I delved deep into the life of Archibald Ramsay, a figure tied to British Fascism, and even completed my di...
